Budget carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle has reported a first-quarter pre-tax loss of NOK813 million ($137 million), widened from a pre-tax loss of NOK160.1 million reported for the same period last year. The airline said that, despite strong growth in passenger numbers and a high load factor, the additional costs of wet-leasing replacement aircraft on long-haul routes, as well as a weaker Norwegian currency had adversely impacted results.
