Russia’s Aeroflot will launch a new low-cost subsidiary (LCC) Oct. 27, CEO Vitaly Saveliev was quoted as saying by Russian news agency ITAR-TASS.
The new subsidiary will reportedly replace Dobrolet, which launched flights June 10 but suspended operations Aug. 4 due to sanctions imposed by the European Union. Saveliev pointed out the LCC business model has proved effective and the group plans to develop it.
According to Saveliev, the unnamed subsidiary will use aircraft transferred from Orenair.
The new carrier’s fleet will consist of four aircraft.
