Air Mauritania 737 was hijacked yesterday en route from Nouakchott to Nouadhibou. The armed hijacker reportedly demanded passage to France but the aircraft flew to Las Palmas, where he was arrested, according to press reports. Spanish officials said there were 71 passengers and eight crew onboard. Some reports indicated several passengers may have been injured.
