Aegean Airlines has selected the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine for up to 62 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. The companies signed an MOU for the deal Dec. 5.

The Greek carrier has a firm order for 30 A320neo family aircraft (20 A320neos and 10 A321neos) with options for 12, and plans to lease up to 20.

“This agreement is expected to offer a substantial improvement in our company’s efficiency through significantly reduced fuel consumption and optimization of maintenance costs through the long-term engines maintenance service agreement,” Aegean CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis said.

Pratt V2500 engines already power the Star Alliance member’s fleet of 49 A320ceo family aircraft.
