Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO) has completed construction of Moscow Cargo terminal, which was put into operation at the end of July.

The 43,000 sq m terminal is able to handle up to 380,000 tonnes per year. The airport is currently testing cargo handling equipment.

According to SVO, the new facilities were built in partnership with Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group and Aeroflot Group. Construction began in March 2016.

Moscow Cargo will start commercial operations in September, after obtaining all necessary licenses and permissions. Also in September, SVO should complete the reconstruction of part of the road infrastructure, which will improve accessibility to the airport.
