Latvian-based Air Baltic will grow its Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 NextGen fleet from eight to 12 this summer, to be phased in between May and July. The carrier will lease the aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital A/S (NAC). Based on list prices, the fleet addition is worth approximately $134.77 million.

The aircraft will be operated onAir Baltic’s network of 60 destinations in Europe, Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

CEO Martin Gauss calls the move “a step ahead in building a more uniform fleet of two aircraft types and will improve our efficiency, save on fuel and cost, and reduce environmental footprint.”

At the end of last year, Air Baltic firmed an agreement to acquire 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft with 10 options. The letter of intent was previously announced at the Farnborough Airshow.
