Syrian Arab Airlines said its planned Regional carrier joint venture with Middle East Airlines should be ready to launch service in the second quarter of next year. The new airline, Phoenician Express, initially will operate a pair of 50/70-seat aircraft on a network based out of Damascus and Beirut.
