Lufthansa and the ver.di union, which conducted strike actions throughout Germany last week, reached a deal on a pay raise for some 34,000 ground employees. They will receive a wage increase of 5.1% effective this past July 1 and an additional 2.3% bump effective July 1, 2009. There also will be a one-off payment of up to 2.4% of each individual's annual compensation. LH said that the entire deal equaled an effective raise of 4.2% per year. It expires on Feb. 28, 2010.
