Aftermarket services provider RUAG MRO International has commissioned a new painting and drying shop for aircraft components in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. 

The shop, which has begun operation following a two-week test phase in June, offers space to paint larger aircraft components such as elevators and rudders, flaps or cabin components. It is located around 18 miles from Munich in Germany’s Bavaria region.

At the facility, which was the recipient of an undisclosed investment, the layout consists of a paint spraying booth and a drying booth directly adjacent to it. “The new facility allows us to carry out even the most demanding of paint jobs...” says Stefan Schulz, RUAG's team leader at the paint shop.

With environmental factors a growing consideration in new hangar builds, RUAG says the paint shop factors in energy consumption and occupational safety requirements.

The new shop is the latest addition to RUAG's aftermarket service offering, which is comprised of line, base and heavy maintenance checks. In addition, cabin interior restyling and refurbishment, avionics and system upgrades are offered along with component services, aircraft painting and modifications work.
