SINGAPORE—ST Engineering has announced expanded Maintenance by the Hour (MBH) deals and nacelle partnerships with Japan Airlines (JAL) and Quickstep Holdings, respectively.
The agreements were made on the sidelines of the MRO Asia-Pacific exhibition in Singapore.
Due to start in April 2024, a new multi-year component MBH contract covers Spring Japan’s new fleet of Airbus A321P2F converted freighters. Spring Japan, a JAL subsidiary, is operated in conjunction with courier company Yamato Holdings.
The A321P2F is also an ST Engineering product. The company is currently converting the airline’s first of three A321P2Fs, to be delivered starting in 2024.
JAL will also continue its Boeing 737-800 component MBH with ST Engineering, first commenced in June 2018 and renewed in July 2023.
Separately, ST Engineering has also entered a partnership with Australia’s Quickstep Holdings to establish a regional nacelle pool to support Airbus and Boeing aircraft engines in the country. ST Engineering will provide support in areas of nacelles and aerostructures, allowing Quickstep to perform MRO from its facility at Melbourne Airport and from its 16,000 m² (172,000 ft.²) composite manufacturing plant at Bankstown Airport in Sydney.
“By pooling the resources and expertise of ST Engineering and Quickstep in Australia, the partnership will benefit airline operators which can look forward to shorter lead times and savings in overall logistics cost during servicing,” ST Engineering EVP and head of component services Goh Poh Loh said in a statement.
