Air traffic into and out of Dubai International Airport was halted for almost an hour last Friday due to members of the public flying recreational unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in Dubai terminal airspace. State-owned Emirates New Agency (WAM) reported that the decision to suspend aircraft movements was taken by tower controllers at 15.00 local time on Friday and inbound flights were diverted to Dubai Al Maktoum Airport.
