Results from the world’s first civil flight powered by 100% biofuel released by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) show that the biofuel used in the flight last October is cleaner than and as efficient as conventional aviation fuel.

Biofuel company Algae.Tec, which in September signed a collaborative agreement with Lufthansa, has gained approval from the Australian government for an A$12.15 million cash refund on Australian and overseas development expenditure for the financial years 30 June 2012 to 30 June 2015.
The deal allows for an initial A$27 million spend on Algae.Tec technology developments, of which the Australian government will reimburse 45% or $12.15 million. The money will support funding of at least three algae bioreactor facilities in Australia, Asia and the US....More
Neste Oil has joined the European Union-funded Initiative Towards Sustainable Kerosene for Aviation (ITAKA) project, which supports the commercialization and use of renewable aviation fuel in Europe.
Neste Oil's role in the consortium will be to produce the renewable fuel used in the project.

Boeing and the BMW Group have agreed to collaborate on joint research on carbon fiber recycling.
The two companies are pioneering the use of carbon fiber in their products.
