United Airlines yesterday joined American Airlines and US Airways (see story above) in announcing that it will charge $15 to check a first bag on North American flights. The fee will apply for trips from Aug. 18 for tickets purchased from today for flights within the US and to/from Canada, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
