Boeing planned to operate another 787 test flight Wednesday, but the company clarified it is unrelated to the battery issue that grounded the Dreamliner fleet.
Similar to a test flight operated Monday, Wednesday’s flight is being conducted with a production aircraft designated for LOT Polish Airlines. “This is a routine test flight designed to address some of the component reliability projects we have been working,” Boeing said in a statement.
Boeing last week conducted a test flight related to gaining FAA certification for its fix of the aircraft’s lithium ion batteries and is planning to operate a second such flight soon. “The battery certification demonstration flight will take place in the coming days,” Boeing said Wednesday.
