Lufthansa pilots could go on strike again, German pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) has announced. VC said in a statement that talks with Lufthansa management has failed to reach an agreement over its early retirement scheme.
The union said it will inform the traveling public in advance before any strike action would start.
Lufthansa CEO and chairman Carsten Spohr told ATW in June he had no fears about another strike scenario. “We have shown [during the-three day pilot strike] that we stopped Lufthansa operations and re-started operations in a German, efficient way. If necessary, we will do this again until a solution is found [with the pilots] that [will enable] Lufthansa to reach sustainable competitiveness for the future. But we want to find a solution without strike actions.”
