Austrian Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines have joined Lufthansa’s joint venture with Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Lufthansa and ANA began their cooperation on flights between Japan and Europe in April 2012 and now, as anticipated, Austrian and Swiss have also joined, effective April 1.

“We will benefit from the strong sales of ANA in Japan in future, and ANA will do from ours. Becoming part of the joint venture, therefore, is another important building block on the way to a healthy Austrian Airlines,” Austrian CEO Jaan Albrecht said.
