Rolls-Royce has begun the assembly of the latest variant of the Trent XWB engine. The 97,000 lb. thrust XWB-97 will power the Airbus A350-1000, the largest model of the new twin-aisle aircraft. The initial version of the A350XWB, the -900, is powered by the benchmark 84,000 lb. version of the powerplant.
