British Airways (BA) has committed to another Embraer E-190, increasing the number of E-Jets it has on order to 14, comprising six E-170s and eight E-190s. The aircraft will be operated by London City-based regional subsidiary BA CityFlyer (ATW Daily News, Oct. 26, 2010). Delivery is expected in the third quarter.

“BA CityFlyer’s follow-on order is a clear endorsement of the airline’s confidence in the E-Jets’ adaptability to its expanding London City Airport network,” said Embraer Commercial Aviation president Paulo Cesar Silva.

The additional aircraft will be configured in a 98-seat, single-class layout.

BA CityFlyer managing director Peter Simpson said the deal will “enable us to open up new flying possibilities to popular leisure destinations. The Embraer 190 is a terrifically fuel-efficient aircraft.”
