Russia’s Ilyushin Finance Co. (IFC) signed a letter of intent with VIM Airlines to lease 15 IrkutMC-21-300s on July 18 at the MAKS Air Show in Moscow.

The 211-seat aircraft is scheduled to be delivered from 2021-2024. VIM has not yet decided which engine—the Pratt & Whitney PW1400 or PD-14—will be chosen for the aircraft.

The Moscow Domodedovo-based airline operates a fleet of 24 aircraft, which includes Airbus A319 and A330, as well as Boeing 737, 757, 767 and 777 aircraft.

Russia’s Red Wings Airlines placed a firm order with IFC for 16 MC-21-300s, with deliveries scheduled from 2019-2022. Four 211-seat aircraft will be equipped with PD-14 engines and 12 will be powered by PW1400 engines. Red Wings currently operates a fleet of Tupolev TU-204s and A320 family aircraft.

Irkut Corp.’s MC-21-300 made its first flight May 28, 2017.
