Russian airlines carried 41.2 million passengers in the first half, down 0.7% compared to the year-ago period. Despite the first-half decrease, in June passenger numbers grew 0.6% year-over-year to 9.8 million, continuing a trend that started in May.

First-half International traffic was down14.2% year-over-year (YOY) to 18.3 million, according to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia. Domestic traffic grew 13.5% to 22.9 million and regional traffic increased 1.4% YOY, reversing a downward trend over the past several months.

Also in the first half, Aeroflotcarried 9.6 million passengers, up 8.6% YOY. Saint Petersburg-basedRossiya, an Aeroflot Group member, carried 1.87 million passengers, up 15.9% from the year-ago period. UTair carried 1.9 million passengers, down 37.3% YOY andTransaerocarried 4.26 million passengers, down 1.3% YOY. S7 Airlines carried 2.8 million passengers, down 2%, while Globus Airline, a member of S7 Group, carried 839,638 passengers, up 17.9% YOY.
