[CORRECTED] Russian airlines carried 41.2 million passengers in the first half, down 0.7% compared to the year-ago period. Despite the first-half decrease, in June passenger numbers grew 0.6% year-over-year to 9.8 million, continuing a trend that started in May.
First-half International traffic was down14.2% year-over-year (YOY) to 18.3 million, according to Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia. Domestic traffic grew 13.5% to 22.9 million and regional traffic increased 1.4% YOY, reversing a downward trend over the past several months.
Also in the first half, Aeroflotcarried 12 million passengers, up 9.3% YOY. Saint Petersburg-basedRossiya, an Aeroflot Group member, carried 2.3 million passengers, up 7.8% from the year-ago period. UTair carried 2.5 million passengers, down 39% YOY andTransaerocarried 5.8 million passengers, up 0.4% YOY. S7 Airlines carried 3.6 million passengers, down 0.3%, while Globus Airline, a member of S7 Group, carried 1.07 million passengers, up 18% YOY.
