Inmarsat has announced the first of its Global Xpress satellites—designated Inmarsat-5 F1—has traveled from California to the launch site in Kazakhstan. The Global Xpress network will power GX Aviation, the world’s first global Ka-band high-speed satellite network specifically designed for mobile assets, with aircraft a target market. Australia’s Jetstar will begin domestic Boeing 787 service Nov. 13 with international service beginning Dec. 18 to Bali.
The 787 begins domestic service to Melbourne-Gold Coast and -Cairns.
The airline is expected to have two more 787s by the beginning of 2014.
Jetstar’s 787s will feature 21 business class and 314 economy seats.
