US carriers’ on-time arrival performance in December improved by more than 17 percentage points over the same period a year ago. According to the US Dept. of Transportation’s (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), the 16 carriers reporting on-time performance data posted an overall on-time arrival rate of 84.4% in December 2011, up from 72% in the year-ago month but down slightly from November 2011’s rate of 85.3% (ATW Daily News, Jan. 23).
