Southwest Airlines will offer passengers the option to pay $40 at airport gates to be among the first to board departing aircraft. The option will be available on the day of travel at the gate 45 minutes before a given flight is scheduled to depart, and will only be offered “if available” for that flight, the carrier said in a statement.
