P&W, China Eastern sign deal to start Shanghai engine MRO JV

Pratt & Whitney and China Eastern Airlines signed an agreement yesterday to create a CFM56 engine overhaul facility in Shanghai, where P&W will maintain the airline's CFM56 engines as well as provide third-party MRO. Financial terms of the joint venture, which includes a 15-year service agreement for the work on China Eastern engines, were not disclosed. The facility, to be called the Pratt & Whitney Shanghai Aircraft Engine Maintenance Co., will overhaul CFM56-3s, -5Bs and -7s. ...
