DOT mandates center fuel tank safety

US Dept. of Transportation announced yesterday that within two years, all new aircraft must include technology that neutralizes flammable gasses from center fuel tanks on passenger aircraft. Those built after 1991 must be retrofitted. DOT said installation would cost $92,000-$311,000 per aircraft...
