Swiss trims loss in first quarter as cost-cutting begins to pay off

Swiss International Air Lines, which is due to be integrated into Lufthansa (ATWOnline, March 23), reported a CHF44 million ($36 million) net loss for the first quarter ended March 31, an improvement over a CHF78 million net loss in the prior-year period. Results from the 2005 quarter included nonrecurring income of CHF43 million derived from the transfer of slots at London Heathrow for the summer timetable period to British Airways, offset somewhat by CHF6 million in restructuring costs ...
