Mesaba joins Northwest in bankruptcy

Mesaba Aviation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection yesterday, a victim of the financial problems at Northwest Airlines, which sought bankruptcy last month and defaulted on $30 million in payments related to Mesaba's participation in the Northwest Airlink program. Adding to Mesaba's woes, NWA had informed the carrier of its intent to cancel subleases on nine of its 35 Avro RJ85s at the end of October and 10 of 60 Saab 340Bs next January as it downsizes its own schedule and therefore ...
