Boeing, which is on track to deliver the 787-9 to launch customer Air New Zealand in mid-2014, flew the Dreamliner from Seattle to Auckland Jan. 3 after a 13-hour, 49-minute flight. The aircraft continued on to Alice Springs, Australia for testing in hot weather. Air New Zealand has 10 aircraft on order. The -9 is 20 feet longer than the 787-8 currently in operation.
