Croatia Airlines pilots have threatened to strike after refusing to sign a collective agreement calling for a 20% pay cut.

According to the Croatian Times, talks between the management and pilots broke down March 28. No strike date has been given. Croatia Airlines employs 137 pilots.

The financially troubled Star Alliance member and other carriers in the Balkan region—including Serbian flag carrier JAT Airways and Slovenia-based Adria Airways—are struggling for survival. Further bankruptcies can be expected as governments have less money available for its mostly state-owned carriers.

Croatia Airlines operates four Airbus A319s, three A320s and six Bombardier Dash-8 Q400s, according to its website. It was founded in 1990.
