IFE providers merge, reposition to evolve

Inflight Productions USA (IFP) and Atlas Air Entertainment Concepts (AAEC) have merged, and AAEC has been absorbed into the Los Angeles branch of IFP. The two companies are owned by Advanced Inflight Alliance (AIA).

“This is one of several measures we are carrying-out to accelerate our reorganization strategy in order to present broader options to the airline community,” IFP and AIA Content Service Group president Roberts Hunter said.

In December, AIA announced that newly appointed CEO Louis Belanger-Martin completed a 100-day business plan aimed at instigating a restructuring strategy, as the company “adapts to an evolving IFE industry.”

It implemented a 20% redundancy program, appointed a new executive management committee, and recorded a 6% year-over-year growth on consolidated sales, reaching €89 million ($117 million) for the first nine months of 2011.
