India’s newest low-cost carrier (LCC) AirAsia India has received its air operator’s permit from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), clearing the way for launch. The LCC has been conducting proving flights over the past few weeks with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The launch is significant because it will be the first airline to start up with investment from a foreign carrier. It has taken more than a year for the airline’s promoters to get all the clearances.
