Transport Canada has issued an air operator certificate (AOC) for WestJet Encore, clearing the way for the new regional affiliate of Calgary-based WestJet to launch operations June 24. WestJet, an all Boeing 737-operator, decided last year to launch a turboprop regional subsidiary to serve smaller Canadian markets unsuited for 737 services and to feed its mainline network.
