Low-cost carrier Norwegian Air Shuttle is launching a subsidiary, Norwegian Cargo, to accommodate growing international markets. The company will manage the Nordic market, opening up the possibility for more direct agreements.
The airline launched its first long-haul flights to the US and Thailand in May. “This is the right time to establish a separate entity within the company to maintain and develop the transportation of goods and to ensure optimal utilization of the available cargo capacity,” director-ground operation & ramp-inflight services Bjorn Erik Barman-Jenssen said in a statement.
Norwegian operates 73 aircraft on 330 routes to 120 destinations and employs approximately 3,000 people.
