Annual Industry Achievement Awards

Air France-KLM Named Airline of the Year by Air Transport World Magazine

Announced: January 26, 2005

WASHINGTON, D.C - JANUARY 26, 2005 - Penton Media, Inc. (OTCBB:PTON)

Air Transport World Magazine, the leading monthly magazine covering the global airline industry, selected Air France-KLM as its Airline of the Year for 2005. "'Remarkable' may be the only word to describe the transformation of Air France Group, now Air France-KLM Group, simultaneously exploiting geographic and national advantages while staking its future on a philosophy of aggressive global growth," ATW's editors said.

ATW Editorial Director J.A. Donoghue added: "The merger with KLM and the subsequent privatization of AF are worthy of special recognition. Combining two of Europe's legendary flag carriers into the largest airline in the world should begin the much-needed rationalization of capacity while providing substantial benefits from the merger."

Other award winners include Mesa Air Group, named ATW's Regional Airline of the Year. Mesa, the regional partner of United, America West and US Airways based in Phoenix, completed a successful business restructuring during one of the most difficult periods in the history of commercial aviation while rapidly expanding.

Virgin Atlantic Airways received ATW's Passenger Service Award. ATW's editors said, "Investing in a major passenger service product upgrade during times of escalating competition and challenged yields requires the courage to act on the belief that only a superior product will do in the battle for the elusive premium passenger group."

Cargolux, the freight carrier of Luxembourg, was named Cargo Airline of the Year. Cargolux is in the elite group of European network carriers that have been profitable for the past five years because it understands that its home market isn't the Grand Duchy, nor even Europe, but rather world trade itself.

AirAsia received ATW's Market Leadership Award for launching a travel revolution not simply in one country but across an entire region. In just three years, the Kuala Lumpur-based carrier has shown that the Asia/Pacific region is ripe for low-fare competition.

Air New Zealand, the second recipient of the ATW's Phoenix Award, survived a near-death experience in 2001 to remake itself into a profitable and innovative competitor across different markets, posting combined annual profits of NZ$331 million over its last two fiscal years.

Garmin International received ATW's Airline Technology Achievement Award for championing the development of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast, the chief enabling technology of the air traffic management system of the future.

The awards will be presented on Tuesday, February 22, in Washington, D.C. at Air Transport World's Gala Awards Dinner at the The Wardman Park Marriott. For attendance information call Anthony
