Aviation Capital Group (ACG) signed a firm order for 30 A320neos at the Dubai Airshow, which brings the lessor’s total A320 order book to 98 aircraft. Engine selection on ACG’s A320neo fleet will be made at a later date but is expected to be split between the two engine offerings.

ACG CEO Stephen Hannahs said that, “faced with increasing fuel prices and tough competition, we are seeing a stronger than ever demand from our customers for modern fuel-efficient aircraft such as the A320neo,” which he noted would cut fuel burn by 15%.

ACG EVP Global Marketing and former Boeing sales executive John Feren said that while the group may have taken longer to select the neo, it wanted to “test out customer reaction, financial community acceptance and the fit within the ACG long-term fleet plan.

“It passed with flying colors on all counts,” Feren said.

Airbus president Tom Enders said the ACG order lifted A320 neo sales and commitments to more than1,300.
