Top All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Boeing executives flew aboard the airline’s first 787 proving flight Sunday.
The airline has promised a robust test flight program before returning the 787 to commercial service, which is expected to happen for ANA in June. Ethiopian Airlines has already restarted commercial service with the Dreamliner.
ANA has 17 of the 50 787s that were in operation when the 787 fleet was grounded Jan. 16.
Boeing has said its fix for the 787’s battery system is comprehensive, noting the new lithium ion battery enclosure structure would contain any potential fire and enable the aircraft to land safely.
Separately, Boeing’s board of directors declared a regular quarterly dividend of 48.5 cents per share. The dividend is payable June 7 to shareholders of record as of May 10.
