Transaero Airlines plans to develop its presence at Moscow Vnukovo Airport, a year after launching operations at the base. It will operate to nearly 30 destinations from Vnukovo this summer, bringing the seasonal schedule to nearly 190 routes, 20% up from the year-ago period.
The new routes will include destinations in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as destinations in the US, France and Italy. Flights to the US and Mexico will be served with Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
Transaero will also increase operations from other Russian cities, including new service to Kiev from Yekaterinburg, Perm and Ufa and will launch Moscow service to Tokyo Narita Airport using a Boeing 777-200. This summer it will operate direct flights to Barcelona from 13 Russian cities, to Hurghada (from 10 cities), to Larnaca (from 10 cities), to Pathos (from nine cities) and to Bangkok (from eight cities). The number of international Transaero routes from Russia will exceed 65, a 50% increase from the year-ago period.
Transaero, which is Russia’s second largest airline, carried 10.327 million passengers in 2012.
