The much-delayed Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which announced in August 2013 that Germania would be the first airline to operate from the airport, has postponed its plan to start a test run for operating up to six daily flights this summer.
Several German media outlets quoted Berlin Airport CEO Hartmut Mehdorn as saying, “We have to accept that we didn’t get enough support [from airport board members] to get the approval to start this test run.”
Germania had planned to operate from the airport’s North Pier from July 2014 to test airport systems and operations.
The airport, which was originally scheduled to open in October 2011, has been delayed several times and is not expected to open before 2015 due to ongoing construction problems and technical issues.
No details about a new possible opening date are available.
