US carriers reported seven tarmac delays longer than 3 hr. in October 2011 compared to no tarmac delays in October 2010 (ATW Daily News, Dec. 8, 2010), according to the US Dept. of Transportation’s (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
