Houston backs SWA international flights; United to cut IAH jobs

United Airlines (UA) said it will cut 1,300 jobs at Continental Airlines’ (CO) former main hub of Houston Intercontinental (IAH).

United Airlines (UA) said it will cut 1,300 jobs at Continental Airlines’ (CO) former main hub of Houston Intercontinental (IAH). It said the job reductions are necessitated by the Houston city council’s approval of Southwest Airlines’ plan to fly internationally from Houston Hobby (HOU) starting in 2015 (ATW Daily News, May 9).
