Russian airlines carried 89.2 million passengers in the January-September period, up 10.1% year-over-year (YOY).

International traffic was up 10.6% YOY to 36.5 million and domestic traffic grew 9.9% to 52.7 million. Load factor was up 0.8 points to 84.8%.

Load factor on international flights was down 0.3 points to 85.9%, while load factor on domestic flights was up 2.1 points to 83.4%.

Cargo and post traffic grew 1.2% to 856,949 tonnes.

Individual airlines reported the following passenger traffic figures for the period:

  • Aeroflot Airline carried 26.8 million, up 7.7% YOY;
  • St. Petersburg-based Aeroflot subsidiary Rossiya Airlines carried 9 million, up 0.3%;
  • Sibir Airlines carried 8.95 million, up 17.8%. Globus, which also operates under the S7 Airlines brand, carried 3.3 million, down 2.3%;
  • Ural Airlines carried 7 million, up 14.3%; and
  • Utair Aviation carried 5.8 million, up 5.5%;

The total market share of Russia’s five biggest airlines declined to 64.5% from 65.5% in the year-ago period.
