Aircastle Limited has reached an agreement with LATAM Airlines Group to enter into purchase and leaseback transactions involving eight Boeing 777-300ERs. The first group of four aircraft, which were manufactured in 2012, is expected to close early in the second quarter of 2014 with an average lease term of 60 months. The second group of aircraft, which were manufactured in 2008, is expected to be purchased by Aircastle once the existing financings are repaid and will be leased back to LATAM with lease terms expiring in 2017 and 2018.
KfW IPEX-Bank has closed financing of a new Airbus A320-200s for Irish aircraft lessor Avolon Aerospace. The aircraft is equipped with sharklets. It was delivered to Pegasus Airlines Feb. 13 and will operate under a long-term operating lease agreement with the Turkish airline.
FLY Leasing has purchased two more aircraft, a Boeing 737-700 and an -800. The aircraft, which were manufactured in 2002 and in 2008, respectively, are leased to airlines in South America and in Europe. The acquisitions will be financed from the company’s free cash and its term loan, which was upsized in November 2013.
Aviation Partners Boeing announced that Aeromexico has ordered split scimitar winglets for its Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft.
Aeroflot has taken delivery of a new Airbus A320 fitted with sharklets wing tips. The aircraft is equipped with CFM56 engines and can accommodate 158 passengers in a two-class configuration comprising eight seats in business and 150 in economy. The A320 provides services mainly on European and domestic routes.
China Southern Airlines has taken delivery of the first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft equipped with the new generation Thales TopSeries AVANT inflight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) system, making the Chinese carrier the launch customer for the Thales passenger system.
