Embraer's commercial deliveries fall

Embraer delivered 122 commercial aircraft in 2009 compared to 162 in 2008, comprising seven ERJ-145s, 22 E-170s, 11 E-175s, 62 E-190s and 20 E-195s.

The Brazilian manufacturer delivered 244 aircraft overall, a 19.6% surge from the record 204 delivered in 2008, as deliveries of executive aircraft like the Phenom 100 and Legacy 600 nearly doubled.

Fourth-quarter commercial deliveries fell to 26 (three 145s, six 170s, two 175s, 12 190s and three 195s) from 44 in the final three months of 2008. Embraer's firm order backlog of commercial, executive and defense aircraft was worth $16.6 billion on Dec. 31. The backlog includes eight 145s (for Hainan Airlines), 17 170s, 15 175s, 185 190s and 40 195s. There also are 722 options outstanding for the 170/190 family.

Customers with a large number of aircraft still to be delivered include JetBlue Airways (60 190s), Azul Linhas Aereas Brasileiras (26 195s and one 190), Hainan (31 190s and the 145s). Lufthansa (14 190s and one 195) and US Airways (12 190s).
