TAM firms Airbus order

TAM, the largest Airbus operator in Latin America, finalized an MOU for 20 A320 family aircraft and five A350-900s announced at the ILA Berlin Air Show in June. TAM's A350s will be powered by Trent XWBs; engine selection for the A320s was not announced (ATW Daily News, June 9).

The commitment brings TAM's total Airbus order book to 176 comprising 134 A320 family aircraft, 15 A330-200s and 27 A350 XWBs. Undelivered backlog consists of 65 A320 family aircraft, two A330-200s and 27 A350 XWBs.

“We have the commitment to offer our customers one of the youngest fleets in the world of aviation,” said TAM CEO Líbano Barroso. Airbus noted that more than 370 Airbus aircraft are flying with 23 Latin American airline customers and operators, representing more than 40% of the fleet in service.
