Alaska Airlines completed outfitting all 55 of its 737-800s as well as 10 737-900s with Aircell's Gogo inflight Internet service, representing more than half the carrier's fleet. It said the service will be available on its remaining two 737-900s by the end of the month and on its remaining -400s and -700s by year end.
SkyWorks Leasing subleased one A340-300 to Lisbon-based lessor Hi Fly Transportes Aereos. The aircraft was delivered following a C check in Copenhagen. It also sold three 757-200SFs to Aerolease on behalf of an unnamed financial institution. The 757s were delivered in March, June and July after completing service with Varig Logistica.
GECAS delivered one new 737-800 to Air China. It is one of 27 aircraft that GECAS leases to the Beijing-based carrier.
Cobham Aviation Services leased one BAe 146-300QT freighter and one Avro RJ100 from BAE Systems. It plans to operate the 146-300QT, which recently was converted by Aerostar in Bacau, on fly-in-fly-out services in Western and Southern Australia as well as on scheduled overnight airfreight services on the eastern seaboard. Delivery of the RJ100 is slated for July with entry into service later this year. Cobham said it has moved delivery of another BAE-leased RJ100 up to this year from its originally scheduled delivery date of next year in response to demand.
It's great to see inflight
By PrepaidWirelessGuyIt's great to see inflight Wifi penetration increasing. It will be interesting to see whether this will end up being a blessing or a curse. Personally, the one occasion when I was able to use it, I found it to be extremely productive and satisfying. the free trial was certainly a bonus as well. I'm not sure that I would want to spend a lot of money on the service in lieu of getting some R&R; we'll see!
