Airbus said it secured 301 gross aircraft orders through the first eight months of 2010, more than double the 147 orders it received in the year-ago period. It delivered 335 aircraft through Aug. 31 compared to 330 in the equivalent 2009 period.
The manufacturer predicted it is "well on track to provide 500 aircraft in 2010." It noted it delivered 13 A380s this year. Its order book was highlighted by commitments for 255 aircraft valued at around $28 billion at July's Farnborough Airshow, including Thai Airways' firm order for seven A330-300s (ATW Daily News, Aug. 12).
Boeing's gross orders through Aug. 31 stood at 328, led by 246 737s, according to its website. It took orders for 50 777s and 28 787s. It had 67 order cancellations in the first eight months of 2010 including 32 787 cancellations, producing a net order total of 261. It recently said its first 787 deliveries would be pushed back to "the middle of the first quarter 2011" (ATW Daily News, Aug. 27).
Boeing said total deliveries for the period ended Aug. 31 were 308, led by 248 737s and 52 777s.

Comparing the both, one can
By Dinant van den BeltComparing the both, one can see Airbus has an advantage in delivery pace in 2010:
308 for Boeing vs 335 for Airbus, furthemore the financial value for Airbus will be considerably higher because of the single aile/ widebody ratio. Net sales only differ +/- 10. However looking more in detail to these figures, again the ratio single aile vs. widebody is interesting:
Airbus sold 183 A 320, 86 A330/340/350, 32 A 380 while Boeing sold 236 737 and 28 767/777 and -4 787, meaning the financial results in the future will be higher for Airbus.
Futhermore I'm interested what will happened to the Ryanair portfolio, Boeing delivered 40 737 to them in 2010, but they seized buying them in 2009, So this will stop at sometime.

Virtually from the moment
By IguanaDC3Virtually from the moment (come winter ahead) that the B787 takes flight w/ the Japanese, copycat catchup sales of this a/c will commence. 2011 will be a banner Boeing year. 2010 will be recorded as the yr when it regained parity. 2011 will be the year of its return to the forefront of that industry.
