Airlines cancelling or delaying flights at EU airports as a result of airborne ash from the Icelandic volcano are required to "provide assistance and care" to stranded passengers including "meals, refreshments, hotel accommodation [and] telephone calls," the European Commission appeared to say yesterday in a statement.
