Aviation Safety Network yesterday said that the 27 fatal airline accidents that resulted in 888 deaths during 2006 were "significantly lower" than the 10-year average of 36 accidents and 1,005 fatalities but that the number of "loss of control" accidents was a "noteworthy" statistic.
